The roundtable of IESS with the presence of Dr. Araghchi
In a roundtable at the Institute for East Strategic Studies which was attended by Dr. Abbas Araghchi, the political deputy of the Iranian Foreign Ministry, and Mohammad Ebrahim Taherian, the special envoy of the Iranian foreign minister to Afghanistan, the comprehensive document of Iran and Afghanistan’s strategic cooperation as well as the latest developments of the peace process were discussed.
The roundtable of IESS with the presence of Dr. Araghchi
On Friday, the Institute for East Strategic Studies hosted a roundtable discussion with the presence of Dr. Abbas Araghchi, Mohammad Ebrahim Taherian, Mohammad Sediqifar, the head of Iran’s consulate general in Herat, Mohammad Beheshti Monfared, the representative of Iranian Foreign Ministry in north and east of the country, Mahmoud Afkhami, an expert on Afghan affaires and the former head of Iran’s consulate general in Herat, and a number of other experts.
                                                                             

In the first part of the meeting, Dr. Araghchi explained about the importance of the comprehensive document of Iran and Afghanistan’s strategic cooperation. He also provided more details about the negotiations for finalizing the document as well as the benefits of this agreement for both countries. The top diplomat further elaborated on two of the five sections of the document, and then, other attendees raised their questions. Finally, this part of the meeting ended with the answers of Dr. Araghchi.

In the second part, Javid Hosseini, a researcher at the Institute for East Strategic Studies, explained about the English website of the institute and then the website (www.iess.ir/en) was launched by Dr. Araghchi. Meanwhile, Abbas Fayyaz, the director of the Institute for East Strategic Studies, also expressed readiness to publish the articles of other Iranian experts. 
 

In the third part of the meeting, the special envoy of the Iranian foreign minister to Afghanistan gave more explanation about the political situation of Afghanistan and the peace negotiations. Taherian also explained the views of the Islamic Republic of Iran towards the developments of Afghanistan and talked about the different layers of the peace negotiations. This part of the roundtable also ended with questions and answers.
